HISTORY AND AWARDS
Growing with distinction
The following outlines the major milestones—a number of which have been recognized with awards—in the history of TERIS.
1964
Jeannine Bigras and Fernand Corbeil, each of whom come from a long line of Laval farmers, begin operations.
The horticultural production of annual flowers constitutes the company’s main activity, but it is also involved in distributing fertilizer and greenhouse coverings.
1980
Beginning of the distribution of horticultural containers and horticulture-and agriculture-related product lines.
1990
Business is now conducted under two company names: SERRES FERNAND CORBEIL, which is managed by Fernand Corbeil, and DISTRIBUTIONS CORBEIL BIGRAS, managed by Jeannine Bigras. The involvement in horticultural growing comes to an end.
1997
DISTRIBUTIONS CORBEIL BIGRAS moves to 3180 Montée Saint-Aubin in Laval.
2002
Stéphane Corbeil takes over through his acquisition of SERRES FERNAND CORBEIL.
2003
Johanne Corbeil forms a partnership with Jeannine Bigras by becoming a shareholder in DISTRIBUTIONS CORBEIL BIGRAS.
2008
Recipient of the Laval Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Dunamis Award in the “Business Succession” category.
2009
Launch of the EnviroPots Solution, an initiative to salvage and recycle used horticultural containers. EnviroPots is a finalist for a 2009 Dunamis Award in the “Sustainable Development” category.
2010
Launch of the TERIS flower box, an environmentally friendly alternative to those made of Styrofoam. Launch of a new transactional website and online catalogue. The firm’s name is changed to TERIS Supply Services in order to better reflect its purchasing services for growers and garden centres.Recipient of a Dunamis Award in the “Distributor/Wholesaler” category..
Launch of the HORTICULTURAL SYNERGY event, a one-day information meeting for manufacturers, producers growers and retailers.
Renovation and expansion of the 3180 Montée Saint-Aubin facility in Laval to include a store, showroom, offices and warehouse featuring state-of-the-art logistics technology for enhanced customer service.
2011
Acquisition and incorporation of the company Distributions horticoles Phyto-Pro, providing TERIS with offices and an 5,000-square-foot warehouse located at 371 Boulevard des Chutes in Quebec City, which enables it to provide services throughout Quebec.Recipient of the 2011 Dunamis Award in the “Sustainable Development and Environmental Citizenship” category; recipient of the Quebec Minister of Agriculture‘Innovative Product’ award for the TERIS annual flower box.
2012
Stéphane Corbeil acquires DISTRIBUTIONS CORBEIL BIGRAS and merges it with TERIS, all of whose Laval operations move to 3180 Montée St-Aubin. Johanne Corbeil becomes General Manager.
